LG Sinha Leads Tiranga Yatra in Srinagar, Says 21st Century Belongs to Bharat
Srinagar, August 12, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday participated in a Tiranga Yatra in Srinagar, calling the Tricolour the “living embodiment” of India’s consciousness, pride and unity. The event brought together the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram.
Addressing citizens after the Yatra, the Lieutenant Governor said the mass participation in Kashmir carried a strong message of national unity and reaffirmed India’s resolve to move forward with confidence.
He recalled that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was launched in 2022 under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to strengthen people’s emotional connection with the national flag. He said the simultaneous display of the Tricolour across millions of homes symbolises the unity of the country and has transformed the Tiranga Yatra into a tradition of patriotism and a shared cultural value.
Sinha congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their enthusiastic participation in the Har Ghar Tiranga and Vande Mataram campaigns, saying their involvement had become a source of inspiration for the entire nation.
“The Tiranga is the soul of our nation and Vande Mataram is the immortal voice of that soul,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor urged citizens to contribute to nation-building through character, honesty, hard work, unity and service. He said that while earlier generations of martyrs defended the nation with their sacrifices, the present generation must uphold the country’s strength and integrity through responsible conduct and dedicated service.
He described the convergence of Har Ghar Tiranga and Vande Mataram celebrations as more than the coming together of two campaigns, calling it a symbol of a new era of confidence and national consciousness.
Sinha called upon the people to ensure that the spirit of the Tricolour is reflected not only on every rooftop but also in their thoughts, character and actions. He urged citizens to honour the sacrifices of national heroes by working towards a prosperous, secure, just and inclusive India offering equal opportunities to all.
“We should work together to realise the vision of a Jammu and Kashmir that is economically strong and takes unbroken pride in Indian culture, civilisation and spiritual values. The future is ours. This century belongs to India. This is the era of India’s self-confidence, its courage and its immortal national consciousness,” he said.
During the programme, the Lieutenant Governor honoured Veer Naris and war heroes, inaugurated the Har Ghar Tiranga Exhibition and felicitated nodal officers associated with the Vande Mataram campaign.
The celebrations also featured the screening of a special documentary by the Department of Culture, followed by a Tiranga concert in which artists paid musical tributes to the nation’s bravehearts.
