Srinagar, August 9: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday expressed deep grief over the demise of Dr. M.J. Zarabi, one of India’s most distinguished electronics engineers and a pioneer in the field of microelectronics.
In his condolence message, the Lieutenant Governor said Dr. Zarabi would be remembered for his groundbreaking contributions to India’s integrated chip manufacturing sector.
“Dr. Zarabi was among that distinguished generation of engineers who laid the foundation for the country’s integrated circuit manufacturing efforts. As Chairman and Managing Director of the Semiconductor Complex Limited (SCL), he was instrumental in establishing a state-of-the-art VLSI fabrication facility in 1997,” the LG recalled.
The Lieutenant Governor noted that he had met Dr. Zarabi just last month to discuss plans for setting up a Semiconductor Design Centre and Lab-Scale Fabrication Facility at the University of Kashmir’s North Campus in Baramulla, aimed at training and research.
“Dr. Zarabi will be remembered not only as a brilliant engineer but also as a warm and generous human being. His loss will be deeply felt by his friends, the research community, and all those whose lives he touched,” Sinha said, extending his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and praying for eternal peace to the departed soul.
