Anantnag, Nov 24 Anantnag Police have arrested a man on charges of cheating, fraud, extortion, impersonation and using a fake police identity card, officials said on Monday.
Official sources told that the accused has been identified as Aabid Hussain Sheikh, son of Mohd Hussain Sheikh, a resident of Donipawa, Anantnag. Police said the arrest was made after a complaint was filed alleging his involvement in fraudulent activities.
After taking him into custody, police have registered FIR No. 249/2025 at the concerned police station.
Officials said the case involves serious offences and requires a thorough investigation.
Police sources added that the arrest is a significant step in the ongoing probe, and further questioning is likely to uncover more details about the suspect’s conduct.
Police assured that the investigation is progressing diligently and urged the public to approach the nearest police station if they have been cheated or defrauded by the accused.
