Omar Abdullah Government Has Failed to Deliver on Poll Promises, Says BJP Leader
Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday staged a protest in Srinagar against the Omar Abdullah-led Jammu and Kashmir government, accusing it of failing to fulfil the promises made to the people during the electoral campaign.
Addressing a large gathering near the historic Ghanta Ghar at Lal Chowk, Leader of Opposition and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma alleged that the Omar Abdullah government had failed to deliver on several key commitments made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharma said the government had made a series of promises during the elections, including providing 1 lakh jobs, 200 units of free electricity and several other measures aimed at providing relief to the people. He alleged that the government had failed to honour these commitments after coming to power.
“The Omar Abdullah-led government has failed to fulfil the promises it made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Sharma said, according to the BJP.
The BJP leader also criticised the reported increase in electricity tariffs, alleging that the decision had placed an additional financial burden on ordinary consumers.
BJP workers and leaders raised slogans against the government during the protest and accused the administration of failing to address issues concerning employment, electricity and public welfare.
The demonstration marked a fresh escalation in the BJP’s political campaign against the NC-led government, with the opposition party demanding that the administration fulfil its electoral commitments and address the grievances of the people.
The BJP has stepped up its criticism of the Omar Abdullah government over governance and policy issues, while the ruling National Conference has maintained its position on its development and governance agenda. ANB
