Police arrest two alleged drug peddlers in Budgam; contraband seized

As part of its ongoing drive against drug trafficking, police in Budgam have arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police team from Police Station Budgam, while on routine patrolling duty in village Karipora near the railway crossing, noticed two persons moving suspiciously. On spotting the police party, they attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended. The accused have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat, a resident of Ompora, Budgam, and Amir Ahmad Gojri, son of Ghulam Mohammad Gojri, a resident of Mohanpora, Budgam.
During the search, a charas-like substance weighing approximately 47.38 grams was recovered from their possession. One mobile phone was also seized.
In this regard, a case under FIR No. 347/2025 has been registered at Police Station Budgam under the relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
Reiterating its resolve to eradicate drug abuse from society, J&K Police have appealed to the public to share any information related to drug peddling or trafficking with the police, emphasizing that public cooperation is vital to achieving a drug-free society.
