Police Commemoration Day: LG Manoj Sinha Pays Glowing Tributes to J&K Police Martyrs

Srinagar, October 21: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today paid solemn homage to the martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir Police at the Police Memorial, Zewan, on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor lauded the Jammu and Kashmir Police as an “epitome of duty, discipline, loyalty and selfless service,” saying that the force has always placed the nation’s interests and citizens’ safety above personal concerns.

“Our brave J&K Police personnel have kept the tricolour flying high even at the cost of their own lives,” the LG said, expressing deep gratitude to the police personnel and their families for their unwavering dedication in safeguarding the people and upholding the rule of law.

The Lieutenant Governor said that the deep love for the tricolour drives J&K Police officers to serve the motherland with devotion and make supreme sacrifices. “While fighting terrorism, enforcing laws, investigating crimes or responding to emergencies like the recent natural calamities, the J&K Police’s commitment has always been to duty first,” he added.

LG Sinha underscored that the glorious legacy of police martyrs continues to inspire future generations to serve the nation and uphold its values. “J&K Police must always remain prepared to eliminate terrorist threats and maintain peace,” he emphasized.

Calling for greater coordination among the five pillars of the criminal justice system — police, prosecution, judiciary, forensics, and prisons — the Lieutenant Governor urged them to work collectively for justice and development. He also emphasized adopting innovative technologies and smart policing methods to combat emerging crimes, drug trafficking, and false narratives in the Union Territory.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their families, LG Sinha said that several initiatives are in place to ensure the families of martyrs live a life of dignity and comfort.

On the occasion, DGP J&K Police Nalin Prabhat read out the names of police martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty. A two-minute silence was observed, and the ceremonial arms were reversed in their honour. The Lieutenant Governor later visited a blood donation camp organized to mark the day.
