Prime Minister Modi and President Xi Jinping Discuss Bilateral Relations at 16th BRICS Summit

Kazan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan.

Welcoming the recent agreement for complete disengagement and resolution of issues stemming from the 2020 border tensions, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of properly managing differences and disputes to ensure peace and tranquility.

Both leaders agreed that the Special Representatives on the India-China boundary issue will meet soon to oversee peace management in border areas and work towards a fair and mutually acceptable solution. Additionally, dialogue mechanisms involving Foreign Ministers and other officials will be utilized to stabilize and rebuild bilateral relations.

The two leaders affirmed that stable and amicable relations between India and China, as neighboring countries and the world’s two largest nations, would positively influence regional and global peace and prosperity. They emphasized the need to approach bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, enhance communication, and explore avenues for cooperation to address developmental challenges.
