Speaking at Aligarh Muslim University, he highlighted the importance of resilience and continued commitment to growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah lauded the Chenab Rail Bridge now recognized as the tallest railway bridge in the world—as a monumental achievement. He called it a "symbol of India’s engineering excellence" and stressed its significance in enhancing connectivity between Kashmir and the rest of the country.
On the topic of the reservation bill, Abdullah explained that while the legislative assembly is currently inactive, the Cabinet Sub-Committee has completed its report, which will soon be presented to the cabinet for further consideration.
Reflecting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 11 years in office, Abdullah noted, “People have voted for him twice. That, in itself, is a clear message.”
Addressing the recent decline in tourism following the tragic April 22 Pahalgam militant attack, which claimed 26 lives, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that ongoing efforts will help restore normalcy and revive the sector.
He also reiterated his call for the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, voicing optimism that the Central Government would fulfill this longstanding demand in due course. ANB
