Sagar Reviews Winter Power Preparedness at Alusteng Grid Station, Announces Proposed Consumer Amnesty Scheme

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 7: Minister for Power Development, Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Disaster Management and Elections, Ali Mohammad Sagar, on Saturday visited the 220/132/33 KV Alusteng Grid Station to review the power supply situation and assess the department’s preparedness for the upcoming winter season. During the visit, the Minister took a detailed review of the grid station’s operational capacity, transmission infrastructure and power distribution arrangements, with particular focus on ensuring an adequate and reliable electricity supply to consumers in Srinagar and Ganderbal districts. Emphasising the need for uninterrupted power supply during winter, Sagar directed the concerned officers to minimise unscheduled power cuts and strictly adhere to the prescribed curtailment schedule. He stressed that advance planning, timely maintenance of infrastructure and effective coordination among field-level functionaries were essential to meet the anticipated rise in electricity demand. The Minister also instructed Chief Engineers and other senior officers to maintain regular coordination with public representatives and local residents, assess ground-level requirements and ensure prompt redressal of consumer grievances. Special attention was directed towards Kangan and adjoining areas to address issues affecting electricity supply. Sagar further informed that an amnesty scheme for electricity consumers was in the pipeline, adding that the proposal was currently under consideration. ANB
