Jammu, Mar 06, ANB: As a part of public outreach programme, "Thana Diwas", an initiative by the Government of J&K aimed to bridge the gap between the police and the public and addressing the grievances of common masses and to promote transparency and accountability in policing foster community policing and public cooperation,DGP J&K Nalin Prabhat-IPS presides over ‘Thana Diwas’ at Model Police Station Gandhi Nagar in Jammu.

In his address, DGP J&K said that ‘Thana Diwas’ is an initiative taken under the directions of Lt Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha to extend Police services to the people of J&K. Thana Diwas is a medium to come more close to the general people, he said, adding, since its launch it has been organized in all the districts of J&K continuously and same continues this this year with more enthusiasm.
DGP J&K said that the terrorism and drug peddling equally dangerous. He emphasized the need for a collective societal effort to curb the rising menace of drug abuse
He said that terrorism and drug peddling are equally grave threats to the society and said, “I would rate fight against drugs and fight against terrorism on equal pedestal”.

On women’s safety, he warned that if an Investigating Officer (IO) fails to file a chargesheet within 60 days, strict action will be taken.
The event witnessed a significant turnout, including senior police officers and prominent members of civil society. Among the attendees were IGP Jammu Shri B. S. Tuti, IPS; DIG JSK Range Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS; SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, JKPS; SP South Ajay sharma, JKPS and other Zonal SsP, SDPOs, DySP Hq, DySP DAR, and other senior police officers.
