Three Held with Heroin in Separate Operations


Jammu Police South Zone, continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, has achieved a major breakthrough by arresting three drug peddlers and recovering around 70 grams of heroin-like narcotic substance in the jurisdiction of Police Station Gandhi Nagar. The operations were carried out under the supervision of SP South, SDPO South, SHO Police Station Gandhi Nagar and overall supervision of the SSP Jammu.
On January 4, 2026, a police team of Police Station Gandhi Nagar led by PSI Maan Singh established a naka for vehicle checking. During the operation, one person was intercepted and identified as Som Nath, son of Surinder Kumar, resident of Tarn Taran, Punjab, presently residing at Valmiki Colony, Jammu. A personal search led to the recovery of about 30 grams of heroin (chitta)-like substance from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 02/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
On the disclosure of the accused, another accomplice, Manav Sonte, son of Milan Sonte, resident of Valmiki Colony, Jammu, was also arrested. Around 10 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. Further investigation in the case is underway.
In another operation on January 8, 2026, a police team from Police Station Gandhi Nagar, led by IC Police Post Nehru Market and PSI Nadeem Akram, laid a naka during vehicle checking. During the operation, Harpreet Singh alias Bablu, son of Sukhdev Singh, resident of Jedra, Ramgarh, Samba, was apprehended. A personal search resulted in the recovery of approximately 30 grams of heroin (chitta)-like substance. In this regard, FIR No. 09/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar. Investigation in the case is in progress.
Jammu Police South Zone reiterated its commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug trafficking with the police.
