On 8 June 2025, General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), visited forward posts in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand to assess the operational and administrative readiness of the deployed forces. During his visit, the COAS interacted with troops stationed along the frontiers, lauding their unwavering dedication, resilience, and professionalism. He underscored the critical importance of maintaining a high level of operational preparedness and constant vigilance.
Later in the day, General Dwivedi inaugurated Ibex Tarana 88.4 FM, a pioneering Community Radio Station established in Jyotirmath, Uttarakhand. Envisioned as a hub for local expression and cultural preservation, the station aims to foster community engagement through programming focused on education, environment, weather, entertainment, employment, disaster preparedness, tourism, health, and traditional arts.
In his inaugural podcast, the COAS stated, “Ibex Tarana is not just a radio station—it is a powerful medium to amplify the voice of youth. It will bring the community together, promote local talent, and reconnect people with their cultural roots.”
On the same occasion, General Dwivedi also honoured distinguished veterans with the Veterans Achievement Award, recognising their exemplary contributions to nation-building and social development.
