Director Information Reviews Preparations for 1st International Film Festival of J&K, Stresses Flawless Execution and Inter-Departmental Coordination

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 3: Director Information, Shreya Singhal, on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting at the Media Complex here to assess the preparations for the forthcoming 1st International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK), directing officers to ensure fool-proof arrangements and seamless coordination among all stakeholders for the successful conduct of the prestigious event. The meeting was attended by Joint Director Information (Headquarters), Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Raina; Joint Director Information Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari; Joint Director Information Jammu, Deepak Dubey; Deputy Director Information (PR/AV), Javid Ahmad Rather; Deputy Director Information (PR) Srinagar, Mohd Rafiq Zullah; Deputy Director Information (Headquarters) Jammu, Aashu Kumari; Deputy Director Information (PR) Jammu, Moksha Dogra; Deputy Director Information (Headquarters) Kashmir, Zubair Ahmad; Film Production Officer, Afaaq Rasool Gadda; District Information Officers, Information Officers and other departmental officials, who participated either physically or through video conferencing. During the meeting, the Director Information conducted a comprehensive review of preparations covering venue management, delegate facilitation, hospitality, media coordination, transportation, cultural programmes, technical support, logistics and other key arrangements. Emphasising timely execution, Shreya Singhal instructed officers to complete all preparations well within the stipulated timelines, leaving no room for lapses. She underscored the need for close coordination among all departments and agencies associated with the event to ensure its smooth and professional conduct. Describing the inaugural edition of the International Film Festival as a significant milestone in Jammu & Kashmir's cultural and cinematic journey, the Director said the event would serve as a global platform to showcase the Union Territory's rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, artistic excellence and growing potential as a preferred destination for film production and creative collaborations. She stressed that meticulous planning, prompt implementation and continuous monitoring of all assigned responsibilities would be essential to deliver the festival in a befitting manner. She also directed officers to regularly review the progress of works under their charge and resolve emerging issues through coordinated action. Highlighting the importance of effective outreach, Shreya Singhal called for robust media and publicity strategies to ensure extensive national and international visibility for the festival. She reiterated the commitment of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) to organise the event to the highest professional standards, making it a landmark celebration of cinema that reflects Jammu & Kashmir's cultural vibrancy, creative aspirations and rising global profile. During the meeting, officers apprised the Director of the progress achieved in their respective sectors and informed that preparations are progressing as per schedule. The 1st International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK) is scheduled to be held from September 7 to 10, 2026, under the theme "Rang-e-Cinema." The festival aims to bring together filmmakers, industry professionals and cinema enthusiasts in one of India's most distinctive cultural landscapes. The inaugural edition has already generated an overwhelming global response, receiving more than 1,100 film entries from over 50 countries across categories including International Competition, Short Film and Bharat Panorama – J&K Select. The festival has also attracted enthusiastic participation from filmmakers across Jammu and Kashmir, offering emerging directors, artists and other creative professionals a major platform to showcase their talent before national and international audiences.
