New Delhi, June 21 (ANB): The Indian Army commemorated the 11th International Day of Yoga with enthusiastic participation across all its commands, reaffirming its dedication to holistic health, discipline, and inner strength.
From the icy expanse of the Siachen Glacier and the tranquil banks of Pangong Tso in the North, to the pristine shores of Port Blair in the South; and from Kibithu in Arunachal Pradesh in the East to the vast Rann of Kutch in the West—soldiers embraced yoga as a powerful tool for physical fitness, mental clarity, and emotional resilience.
According to the Associated News Bureau (ANB), the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi, joined Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh for Yoga Day celebrations in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir. Their participation underscored the relevance of yoga in enhancing combat readiness and stress management for armed forces personnel.
In Delhi, Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS), Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani, led a large-scale yoga session at the historic Cariappa Parade Ground. The event witnessed the participation of over 3,400 individuals, including defence attachés from 25 nations, NCC cadets, school children, and Army families.
Beyond national borders, Indian Army personnel deployed on UN peacekeeping missions and those serving with Military Training Teams abroad also marked the day with yoga sessions, demonstrating India’s enduring commitment to global wellness and peace. Indian contingents participating in Exercise Khan Quest in Mongolia and Exercise Shakti in France conducted joint yoga sessions with international troops, showcasing yoga as a bridge of cultural diplomacy and shared well-being.
These extensive celebrations reflect the Indian Army’s deep-rooted belief in “योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्” — Yoga is excellence in action — and its resolve to integrate the ancient Indian practice into the daily lives of its personnel, across diverse terrains and missions worldwide.
