New Delhi / Spiti Valley, July 30: ANB: In a landmark step towards indigenous innovation and technological advancement, the Indian Army’s Surya Command will organize ‘Surya Dronathon 2025’, a national-level drone competition in collaboration with the Drone Federation of India. Scheduled to be held at Sumdo, Himachal Pradesh, between 10–15 August and 20–24 August, the event will challenge participants to operate drones at an altitude of 10,700 feet, under real-world weather and terrain conditions.
This first-of-its-kind high-altitude drone challenge will invite participation from freelancers, OEMs, and Army personnel, with registration open until August 5, 2025. The initiative aims to bolster India's defence capabilities by identifying next-gen drone technologies tailored to battlefield needs, in line with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
Top performers may see their innovations considered for Army procurement, providing a rare opportunity to directly integrate into India’s defence ecosystem.
