Jammu, May 23, 2025 – In India, cricket is more than a sport—it's a passion that unites hearts. Yet behind its glittering surface lie shadows of politics, favoritism, and personal gain. The Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has recently come under scrutiny for irregularities and a lack of transparency.
While the Hyderabad Cricket Association faced controversy during former captain Mohammad Azharuddin’s tenure over the renaming of a pavilion, a similar storm brews in Jammu & Kashmir. Here, coaching workshops have allegedly become a platform for nepotism, where inexperienced and unqualified individuals are being favored over capable coaches.
Mithun Manhas, a former Delhi cricketer and an influential JKCA member, is accused of benefiting his close associates. Meanwhile, Majid Dar, previously accused of age fraud, continues to hold a powerful position without resistance.
Once, cricket was considered a path forward based on merit and talent. Today, however, the situation appears starkly different. The lack of transparency, favoritism, and unprofessionalism within JKCA has shaken the confidence of many talented young players in the region.
This crisis isn’t just about administrative failure—it's about the future of the sport. Without immediate reforms, this stagnating crisis could soon spiral into complete collapse.
