*J&K Govt Deploys Ex-Servicemen to Safeguard Critical Infrastructure*
*4,000 Retired Soldiers Mobilised Across 20 Districts in a First-of-its-Kind Community Security Initiative*
New Delhi, May 17, ANB, In a landmark move to enhance local security and foster community participation, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved a proposal to deploy 4,000 Ex-Servicemen (ESM) for the protection of critical infrastructure across the Union Territory.
According to News Service, Associated News Bureau, ANB, The initiative, spearheaded by the J&K Sainik Welfare Board, marks a strategic integration of military discipline into civilian safety frameworks.
Under this newly sanctioned plan, former soldiers will be tasked with guarding vital installations including power stations, bridges, and government buildings in all 20 districts of J&K. Notably, 435 of these volunteers are licensed firearm holders, equipping the force with an added layer of preparedness for emergency responses.
Building on the successful deployment of 2,500 veterans during the COVID-19 crisis, the expanded force reflects the growing trust placed in the ESM community and their unwavering spirit of service.
These volunteers will work under the coordination of District Sainik Welfare Officers, in collaboration with district authorities and local police.

Provision of uniforms and basic equipment by the Sainik Welfare Board
Planned training sessions to ensure professional and standardised operations
