J&K Police Holds Workshop On e-Sakshya, e-Summons & MedLEaPR apps


Jammu, Jan 12, ANB: A one-day joint workshop for police officers especially Investigating Officers (IOs),CCTNS operators, Tamilies from Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range was successfully conducted at the Conference Hall, DPL Jammu. It was organized by a team of experts/trainers from Crime Headquarters (CHQ), the workshop focused on the integration of digital tools such as e-Sakshya, e-Summon and MedLEaPR to improve efficiency, transparency and accuracy in police investigations under New Criminal Laws.


Key Digital Tools Introduced:


1. e-Sakshya:

Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to assist police in recording evidence and managing crime scenes, such as videography, photography, and recording of statements.


Ensures secure storage on an e-evidence server with immediate accessibility for courts.


2. e-Summon:

A platform under the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) initiative by the Supreme Court's e-Committee, which facilitates electronic transmission of summons from courts to police stations and recipients, ensuring swift communication and accountability.


3. MedLEaPR: A web-based system designed to capture and securely report Medico Legal Reports (MLR) and Post Mortem Reports (PMR).


Workshop Objectives:


The training aimed to:


Equip police officers especially Investigating officers including SDPOs SHOs, Tamilies as well CCTNS operators with essential knowledge and skills for digital crime scene evidence management.


Ensure efficient implementation of updated legal procedures for electronic summons and legal documentation.


Streamline evidence handling to enhance transparency and operational efficiency.


ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain-IPS formally inaugurated the workshop in presence of IGP Crime Sunil Gupta-IPS, DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma-IPS & SSP Jammu Joginder Singh-JKPS. More than 250 police officers/officials attended the said workshop including Zonal SsP,SDPO’s,SHO’s,Investigating officers as well as Tamilies and CCTNS operators from JSK Range.


ADGP Jammu highlighted the significance of the workshop in modernizing investigative processes. "The adoption of these digital tools ensures transparency and timely delivery of justice," they stated, emphasizing the critical role of continuous training in adapting to technological advancements under New Criminal Laws.


IGP Crime stressed for in-depth adoption of latest digital/computer technologies/training in police working especially investigation to achieve the objective of speedy and transparent investigation.


DIG JSK Range Sh.Shiv Kumar Sharma-IPS highlighted the importance of these apps in ensuring transparency in police investigations.


As a token of appreciation for their valuable contribution, mementos were presented to the course instructors by senior officers at the conclusion of the workshop.


This workshop reflects the commitment of law enforcement agencies to embrace digital innovations and enhance operational efficiency in line with evolving legal frameworks, leading to conclusion of investigations in a time bound manner, at the same time increasing transparency in investigations.
