Srinagar, 24th August: The J&K Sports Council has launched India's first-ever advanced training program for elite rhythmic gymnasts in a vibrant ceremony at SKISC, Srinagar. This three-week program, organized in collaboration with the Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) and the Gymnastics Association of J&K, marks a significant milestone in the region's sporting landscape.
The program commenced with a ceremonial opening, including the National Anthem and the welcome of distinguished guests, highlighting the progressive initiatives undertaken by the sports department under the leadership of Sh. Sarmad Hafeez, IAS, Secretary to the Government, Youth Services & Sports, and Ms. Nuzhat Gull, Secretary, J&K Sports Council.
The J&K Sports Council is providing comprehensive support for the training camp, including boarding and lodging facilities for coaches and gymnasts from various states and Union Territories, an unprecedented move in the region's sports programs. This commitment to facilitating high-caliber training reflects the government's dedication to nurturing sports talent and promoting excellence at both national and international levels.
Ms. Dilbar, a renowned expert from the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation with extensive international coaching experience, is leading the training sessions. She is joined by Ms. Krupali Singh, the Chief Gymnastics Coach of the J&K Sports Council, who will assist at the national level, alongside other experienced coaches from across India.
The program's objective is to elevate the skill levels of the participating gymnasts, providing them with international-standard training that will prepare them to compete on a global stage. Such initiatives are pivotal in enhancing the performance of Indian gymnasts, with the ultimate goal of securing medals in future international competitions.
Sh. Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary to Govt. Youth services and sports emphasized the significance of hosting this first-of-its-kind camp in Srinagar, applauding the collaborative efforts of the GFI and the Gymnastics Association of J&K. He stated, "This training program not only showcases our commitment to advancing sports in the region but also opens new avenues for our young athletes to shine at the national and international levels."
Furthermore he added that sports demonstrations under SVEEP(Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation ) awareness campaigns will be held across J&K to facilitate maximum participation of voters in upcoming Assembly elections in J&K.
Ms. Nuzhat Gull, Secretary, J&K Sports Council echoed these sentiments, appreciating the efforts of the GFI and GAJK in organizing such a high-level camp. She remarked on the positive impact this program will have on the region's sports development and further added that more such camps in other sports will be held in near future.
The opening ceremony featured a vibrant demonstration by the selected gymnasts, earning applause from the guests and the dignitaries.
