Srinagar: the Khelo India Kabaddi Centre at Shadipora has once again highlighted the success of structured grassroots sports development under the Khelo India Scheme, with four of its trainees earning selection for prestigious national-level kabaddi championships.
The selected athletes include Tabasum Mohi U Din, who will represent the Centre at the Junior National Kabaddi Championship in Kolkata from December 25 to 28, 2025; Insha Afzal, selected for the 69th SGFI National Kabaddi Championship (Under-17) to be held in Maharashtra from December 24 to 28, 2025; and Imran Hussain and Mohsin Manzoor, both chosen for the 69th SGFI National Kabaddi Championship (Under-14) scheduled in Chhattisgarh from January 6 to 9, 2026.
These selections reaffirm the effectiveness of the Khelo India Scheme in identifying and nurturing talent at the grassroots level, particularly from rural areas. Through professional coaching, scientific training methods, regular competitive exposure, and a structured progression pathway, the programme continues to prepare young athletes for national platforms.
Over the years, the Khelo India Kabaddi Centre, Shadipora has established itself as a focused hub for kabaddi excellence, consistently producing disciplined and competition-ready players while strengthening Jammu & Kashmir’s footprint in national kabaddi competitions.
