Srinagar, October 5: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Sunday felicitated the top performers and winners of the Abacus Learning of Higher Arithmetic (ALOHA) State-Level Arithmetic Operations Contest at the University of Kashmir. The event saw the participation of over 1,500 students from across Jammu and Kashmir.
Congratulating the participants for their exceptional arithmetic skills, the Lieutenant Governor lauded ALOHA for providing children with a platform to explore their intellectual potential.
> “The growth of Jammu and Kashmir is directly linked with the growth of its youth. They have a mission to transform both J&K and the nation. With determination and dedication, they can achieve this mission,” the LG said.
“We will ensure that our youth have the right environment to become talented scholars, scientists, and innovators,” he added.
Highlighting the importance of arithmetic learning, LG Sinha said that numerical operations are not just about calculations but serve as the foundation for problem-solving, critical thinking, and reasoning skills.
> “These skills have far-reaching implications, driving young minds towards innovation, science, and technology,” he remarked. “Education should not merely be about marks or certificates but about building the nation’s future.”
Encouraging the young generation to think independently and embrace innovation, the Lieutenant Governor urged them to take bold steps in pursuit of new goals.
> “In an unpredictable world, innovation cannot be achieved by following the beaten track. The young generation should be more entrepreneurial, adventurous, creative, and willing to think outside the box,” he said.
Calling for a transformation of school campuses into “hubs of curiosity and innovation,” LG Sinha emphasized that education must become a medium for independent research and creative exploration.
> “Classrooms should serve as launchpads for dreams and aspirations,” he added.
