Jammu, March 31, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Tuesday attended the Mahavir Janma Kalyanak Ceremony organised by S.S. Jain Sabha in Jammu to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavira, and extended his greetings on the auspicious occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the enduring relevance of Lord Mahavira’s teachings of Ahimsa and Anekantavada, underscoring the need for right faith, knowledge and conduct in a world increasingly in need of compassion, peace and brotherhood.
Referring to the national outlook, the Lieutenant Governor said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has emerged as a strong and resolute nation, conveying to the world that true peace reflects courage and conviction, not weakness. He stressed that the present time calls for building bridges rather than battlefields.
Amid prevailing global conflicts, he urged people to draw inspiration from Lord Mahavira’s philosophy, which promotes lasting peace and unity. He emphasized that true progress is rooted in individual responsibility and accountability, and called for bridging societal divides by fostering trust through mutual understanding of diverse cultures and ideas.
The Lieutenant Governor further noted that Lord Mahavira’s emphasis on introspection, discipline and self-transformation remains vital for societal upliftment. He said that values such as non-violence, restraint, non-possession and truth are essential for meaningful nation-building and shaping individual character.
Highlighting the concept of Anekantavada, he described it as a lesson in intellectual humility, reminding that truth is multifaceted and no single perspective holds absolute authority. He cautioned against the growing tendency of equating opinions with absolute truth in today’s polarized discourse.
Calling upon the youth, the Lieutenant Governor urged them to adopt non-violence as a way of life and develop a responsible attitude towards nature, stating that true Ahimsa also serves as a powerful strategy for environmental protection.
He described Lord Mahavira’s legacy as a timeless guide for navigating complexities of modern life, rooted in the principles of peace, restraint and spiritual awareness.
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor also felicitated achievers from various fields. The event witnessed the presence of prominent citizens, members of S.S. Jain Sabha, senior officials and public representatives.
