Lieutenant Governor pays obeisance to sacred relics of Lord Buddha at Geden Sheddup Choikorling Monastery, Elista, Kalmykia (Russia)

Srinagar, October 18, 2025:
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid obeisance to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha brought from India and enshrined at the Central Temple—Geden Sheddup Choikorling Monastery, popularly known as The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni—in Elista, Kalmykia, Russia.

The Lieutenant Governor is leading the Indian delegation accompanying the sacred relics on their return to India after a week-long exposition in Elista.

Interacting with the revered monks and devotees, the Lieutenant Governor expressed deep gratitude for the warmth and devotion shown by the people of Kalmykia and visitors from across Russia. He said their reverence for the relics reflects a rare spiritual bond that will remain etched in memory.

“The sacred relics of the Buddha are regarded as the Buddha himself, and his presence here signifies his blessings upon the people of Kalmykia and the entire Russian Federation,” the Lieutenant Governor observed.

He further stated that India takes immense pride in upholding the timeless teachings of Lord Buddha—compassion, wisdom, and non-violence—which continue to hold great relevance in today’s world. “Our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently highlighted the universal relevance of Buddha’s message in modern times and has brought his teachings to the global stage as a guiding light for peace and harmony,” he added.

The Lieutenant Governor also emphasised that Buddha’s message and values must be more deeply ingrained in societies, particularly among the youth, to inspire a world rooted in compassion and moral strength.
