Jammu, December 16, 2025:
On the occasion of Vijay Diwas, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Monday unveiled a 108-feet-high mast National Flag at Kachrial in the Akhnoor sector, paying rich tributes to the martyrs, soldiers and officers whose valour and supreme sacrifice in the 1971 war brought glory to the nation.
The Lieutenant Governor also felicitated war veterans and Veer Naris, acknowledging their courage and lifelong sacrifices in the service of the country.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Manoj Sinha said that the land of Kachrial holds immense historical and emotional significance for the nation, recalling the bravery of soldiers who laid down their lives while safeguarding India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during the wars of 1965 and 1971. He described the area as sacred, noting that every inch of the land bears testimony to their sacrifices.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps (16 Corps), for the initiative of installing the 108-feet-high national flag, and appreciated the Flag Foundation of India for its contribution to the historic effort.
Highlighting the significance of the Tricolour, Shri Sinha said it symbolises the country’s freedom, self-respect, sacrifices and martyrdom. He expressed hope that the victorious Tricolour would continue to fly high across the world and called upon citizens to move forward collectively towards the goal of building a developed India.
The event was attended by Minister Satish Sharma; Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, GOC-in-Chief, Northern Command; Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra; Major General H.S. Brar, GOC 10 RAPID; Brigadier Dayanand Sharma, Commander Pallanwala Brigade; Major General (Retd) Ashim Kohli, CEO, Flag Foundation of India; senior officials, war veterans, Veer Naris and students.
