PIB Srinagar Media Tour Begins in Chennai to Provide Journalists Firsthand Exposure to Central Government Initiatives
Chennai, September 13, 2026: A five-day media tour organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Srinagar Region, for journalists from Srinagar commenced on Sunday with the arrival of the media delegation in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The 13-member delegation comprises 11 journalists and two officials. It is being led by Shahid Mohammad Lone, Field Publicity Officer (FPO), Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), as the Conducting Officer. Ifham Ul Islam, Information Assistant, PIB Srinagar, is accompanying the delegation.
The delegation received a warm welcome from PIB Chennai upon its arrival at Chennai International Airport.
The media tour is aimed at providing journalists with firsthand exposure to key Central Government institutions, projects and initiatives in Chennai, while enhancing their understanding of national policies and their implementation at the ground level.
As part of the five-day programme, the delegation will visit various Central Government establishments and projects in Chennai and interact with senior officials to gain insights into their functioning, operations and ongoing initiatives.
During a pre-departure briefing held on Saturday, Qazi Salman, Director, PIB Srinagar, congratulated the participating journalists and expressed confidence that the tour would provide valuable opportunities for professional engagement and help strengthen their understanding of the functioning of Central Government institutions.
The visit is also expected to facilitate greater interaction between journalists and government institutions, enabling the media delegation to gain direct perspectives on public initiatives and their implementation. ANB
