Samba Police Arrest Drug Peddler, Recover Heroin and Cash During Naka Check
Samba, May 31: Continuing its crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Samba Police on Saturday arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered a heroin-like substance along with cash during a vehicle checking operation in the district.
According to police, a team from Police Post Rakh Amb Talli, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba, acting on specific information, established a naka at Rakh Amb Talli and intercepted an Alto car bearing registration number JK02AM-8686 that was travelling from the Pangdour side.
During the search of the vehicle, police recovered approximately 3.68 grams of a heroin-like substance, commonly known as "Chitta", along with cash amounting to Rs 8,810 from the possession of the driver.
The accused was identified as Ajay Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Dhanori in Katra tehsil of Reasi district. He was taken into custody on the spot.
Police also seized the recovered contraband, the vehicle used in the alleged offence, and the cash amount.
A case under FIR No. 129/2026 has been registered at Police Station Samba under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
