Satish Sharma Engages Stakeholders, Assures Action on Workers’ Issues and Public Development Concerns

Srinagar, July 6: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, and Science & Technology, Satish Sharma, on Monday met several delegations from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir at the Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, reaffirming the government's commitment to responsive governance and people-centric development. Among those who met the Minister was a delegation of Rehbar-e-Khel (ReK) representatives led by MLA Khansahib Saif-ud-Din Bhat, who raised issues related to the regularisation of Rehbar-e-Khel teachers, improvement in their service conditions, and the formulation of a comprehensive policy to address their long-pending demands. The delegation highlighted the vital role played by Rehbar-e-Khel teachers in nurturing sporting talent and strengthening grassroots sports across Jammu and Kashmir. Responding to the concerns, the Minister said the government was fully aware of the issues facing the Rehbar-e-Khel community and assured the delegation that their genuine demands would be addressed at the earliest. He described the contribution of ReKs to the region's sports ecosystem as invaluable and said every effort would be made to arrive at a practical and sustainable solution. The Minister also met a delegation of the Mutton Dealers Association, which expressed gratitude to the administration for its timely intervention in resolving issues affecting the trade. The delegation appreciated the government's proactive approach in ensuring the smooth functioning of the sector and thanked the Minister for safeguarding the interests of both traders and consumers. During the interaction, Satish Sharma reiterated that the government remains committed to maintaining a balanced approach that protects consumer welfare while addressing the legitimate concerns of the trading community. He assured the delegation that regular consultations with stakeholders would continue to promote transparency and efficiency in the sector. In addition, several delegations from different districts and regions of Jammu and Kashmir called on the Minister and raised a range of public issues, including matters related to public services, youth welfare, sports infrastructure, technology-driven governance, and developmental initiatives. After hearing the delegations, the Minister assured them that all genuine issues would be examined on merit and appropriate action would be taken in coordination with the concerned departments. He reiterated the government's commitment to transparent, accountable, and efficient governance while addressing the aspirations of people across all sections of society. Emphasising the importance of public outreach, Satish Sharma said continuous engagement with stakeholders provides valuable feedback that helps the government formulate responsive policies and ensure that the benefits of development reach every part of Jammu and Kashmir.
