World Consumer Rights Day being celebrated today


New Delhi, March 15, ANB: Today is World Consumer Rights Day.

According to News Service, Associated News Bureau, ANB,  It is celebrated on the 15th of March annually to serve as an essential reminder of the need to uphold consumer rights and protection.

The day is also an opportunity to promote the basic rights of all consumers and encourage those rights to be respected and protected.  The theme for World Consumer Rights Day 2025 is a Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles.

"Government has taken various steps to protect the rights of consumers and early redressal of their grievances. The Consumer Affairs Ministry is running various consumer awareness programmes through Jaago Grahak Jaago. National Consumer Helpline has also partnered with over one thousand companies to expedite grievance resolution.

 To safeguard consumers from unfair trade practices in e-commerce, the Department of Consumer Affairs has notified the Consumer Protection (E-commerce) Rules, 2020. These rules outline the responsibilities of e-commerce entities and specify the liabilities of marketplace and inventory e-commerce entities, including provisions for customer grievance redressal.
