ACB Registers Disproportionate Assets Case Against AEE in Kishtwar

Jammu, May 22, 2026: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case against Ashiq Hussain Rather, presently posted as Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in the Hydraulic Sub-Division Chhatroo, District Kishtwar. According to officials, the case has been registered under FIR No. 01/2026 under Sections 13(1)(b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 at Police Station ACB Doda. The action followed a verification conducted by the ACB’s Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban wing into allegations that the officer had amassed substantial movable and immovable assets in his own name as well as in the names of his family members. The assets reportedly include a five-storey residential house on Court Road Doda, land properties at Udrana Bhaderwah and Sunjawan Jammu, sizeable bank balances including fixed deposits, besides costly electronic gadgets and jewellery. The ACB stated that the assets acquired by the accused were found to be disproportionate to his known sources of income, indicating alleged illicit enrichment during his service tenure. During the investigation, the ACB obtained search warrants from the competent court and conducted searches at the official and private residences of the accused in Doda and Kishtwar districts in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses. Further investigation into the case is underway.
