CBI Registers Rs 93.44 Crore Bank Fraud Case,Searches Conducted at Premises Linked to Mumbai-Based Company Directors

Mumbai, October 3, 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a bank fraud case involving an alleged loss of approximately Rs 93.44 crore to Punjab National Bank and conducted searches at multiple premises linked to the directors of Mumbai-based M/s Hanjer Biotech Energies Pvt. Ltd. The case was registered on September 30, 2026, on the complaint of Punjab National Bank’s SAM Branch, Mumbai, against M/s Hanjer Biotech Energies Pvt. Ltd., its directors and guarantors, as well as unknown public servants and private persons. According to the allegations, the accused entered into a criminal conspiracy to obtain a term loan of Rs 135 crore against invoices of a related party and allegedly diverted or siphoned off the loan funds for purposes other than those for which the financing had been sanctioned. The alleged diversion of funds resulted in a wrongful loss of approximately Rs 93.44 crore to the complainant bank, the CBI said.The case involves allegations of criminal conspiracy and cheating, besides provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The CBI conducted searches on October 2, 2026, at several premises associated with the directors of the company. During the searches, investigators recovered and seized incriminating bank and property-related documents considered relevant to the investigation. The investigation is continuing to determine the full extent of the alleged conspiracy, establish the roles of all persons involved, including public servants and private individuals, and trace the end-use and movement of the loan funds.
