COAS General Upendra Dwivedi Presides Over Biennial Artillery Conference 2025 at School of Artillery, Devlali
The Biennial Artillery Conference 2025 was held at the School of Artillery, Devlali, from 11–12 December 2025 in hybrid mode. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi chaired the conference, which brought together senior leadership to review operational readiness, modernisation efforts and the transformational roadmap of the Regiment of Artillery.
The two-day event included in-depth discussions on operational lessons from Operation SINDOOR, along with broader deliberations on modernisation, technology integration, and force restructuring. Key focus was placed on the reorganisation and raising of Shaktibaan Regiments and Divaystra Batteries, initiatives that signal a major push toward strengthening future artillery capabilities.
Lieutenant General Adosh Kumar, Director General of Artillery, along with senior officers, presented a detailed review of the Arm’s modernisation plans, training advancements and human resource development. Their presentations outlined a clear trajectory for the continuing transformation of the Regiment.
The hybrid format allowed officers and JCOs from 25 outstation locations to participate via video conferencing, enabling broad-based engagement and collective assessment of the path ahead.
During the visit, the COAS also inspected advanced training and operational infrastructure at the Drone Experience Centre of the School of Artillery. He was briefed on simulator labs, the incubation centre and the drone manoeuvre arena, where trainees conduct mission planning, surveillance and targeting exercises. Demonstrations of drone operations, loiter munition training, and mini-RPAS modules showcased the growing emphasis on precision and technology-driven warfare. General Dwivedi appreciated the high professional standards of instructors and acknowledged the significant contribution of these facilities to enhancing operational readiness for contemporary battlefields.
The COAS further visited the Combat Army Aviation Training School (CAATS) in Nasik to review its operational preparedness.
Before concluding his visit, General Dwivedi met with veterans from the Nasik and Devlali military stations, lauding their distinguished service and continued bond with the Regiment. On the occasion, he presented the Veteran Achievers Award to five veterans in recognition of their exceptional contributions.
