Jammu, February 19: The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) today organised a comprehensive workshop on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) Portal at the Media Complex here.
The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Director, Information and Public Relations, Nitish Rajora, with the objective of enhancing awareness and operational efficiency regarding the use of the GeM portal for government procurement.
Assistant Professor at GCW Parade, Venus Sharma, served as the resource person and delivered a detailed presentation on the functioning and operational framework of the portal. She familiarised the participants with various procurement methods available on GeM, including direct purchase, bidding processes, and other transparent and efficient mechanisms of public procurement.
The session also covered key aspects such as vendor registration, order placement, compliance requirements, and best practices aimed at ensuring accountability and efficiency in government purchases. Participants actively engaged in the interactive session and sought clarifications on procedural aspects of the portal.
All staff members of the Directorate attended the workshop. Information Officers Alka Misra and Maheer Thakur were also present and appreciated the initiative, highlighting the importance of digital procurement systems in strengthening transparency and improving administrative efficiency.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the Department’s commitment to capacity building and the adoption of e-governance initiatives to enhance service delivery.
