Jammu, July 14:
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu kick-started its five-day Holistic Orientation Programme with a grand inaugural ceremony held today at its Jagti campus. The programme officially marked the induction of new batches into various academic programmes, including the 6th Ph.D. Batch, 4th Ph.D. (Working Professionals), 10th MBA Batch, 4th MBA in Healthcare Management, and 5th Executive MBA (EMBA) Batch.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences. Professor B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, presided over the ceremony.
A special message from Dr. Milind P. Kamble, Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, was read out by Professor Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research. Among the other dignitaries present were Amitava Chatterjee, MD & CEO of J&K Bank (Guest of Honour), Professor Shakti Gupta, Director, AIIMS Jammu; Professor Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics; and Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Chairperson Admissions, IIM Jammu.
A key highlight of the event was the inauguration of the newly constructed state-of-the-art hostel complex by Dr. Jitendra Singh. Comprising four residential blocks—Krishna, Sindhu, Narmada, and Yamuna—with a total of 688 rooms, the complex underscores IIM Jammu’s commitment to providing top-tier living and learning facilities for its students.
Reinforcing the institute’s focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility, Dr. Jitendra Singh also took part in a symbolic tree plantation ceremony, planting a Rudraksh sapling near the hostel complex.
The inaugural ceremony set a spirited and motivational tone for the orientation programme, as the incoming students prepare to embark on a transformative educational journey at one of the country’s fastest-growing IIMs.
