Dr. Touseef Bhatt to Receive Delhi Gaurav Award 2026 for Outstanding Contribution to Climate Action

Srinagar, Aug 6: Prominent environmentalist and social activist Dr. Touseef Bhatt has been selected for the prestigious Delhi Gaurav Award 2026 in recognition of his significant contribution to climate action, environmental conservation and community service. Dr. Bhatt has been honoured for more than two decades of sustained efforts in promoting environmental sustainability, afforestation, climate awareness, biodiversity conservation and youth-led environmental initiatives. Popularly known as the "Tree Man of Kashmir," he has led numerous plantation campaigns, environmental education programmes, lake conservation drives and public awareness initiatives across Jammu and Kashmir. Reacting to the announcement, Dr. Bhatt expressed gratitude and described the recognition as a tribute to the collective efforts of volunteers, environmentalists, students and citizens committed to protecting nature. He said the award would further strengthen his resolve to continue working towards environmental protection, climate resilience and sustainable development, particularly in the ecologically sensitive Himalayan region. He also stressed that tackling climate change requires collective action and active public participation. The Delhi Gaurav Awards recognise individuals whose exceptional contributions have made a meaningful impact on society. Dr. Bhatt's selection is being viewed as national recognition of his long-standing efforts to promote environmental stewardship and inspire community-driven conservation initiatives. The award will be presented at a ceremony scheduled to be held on August 9, 2026, at the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya in New Delhi, where distinguished personalities from across the country will be honoured for their contributions in diverse fields. Dr. Bhatt dedicated the honour to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, fellow environmentalists, volunteers and all those working towards creating a greener, cleaner and healthier future. ANB
