IT Department Gets Dedicated Hub in Jammu as Commissioner Secretary Takes Over New Facility

JAMMU, Aug 6: Commissioner Secretary, Information Technology Department, Saurabh Bhagat, on Thursday formally took possession of 23 rooms in the erstwhile Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) building located behind the Civil Secretariat, Jammu, marking a significant step towards strengthening the department’s operational and digital governance capabilities. The premises, recently allotted to the Information Technology Department, will be developed as a dedicated IT Hub to accommodate the department’s expanding technical workforce and enhance coordination among its various functional wings. The move is aimed at providing the infrastructure required to meet the growing technological and digital governance needs of the Government. DIG, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Vikas Gupta; Special Secretary IT, Showkat Mehmood; Additional Secretary IT, Devender Singh Bhau; Deputy Secretary IT; Head SeMT; In-Charge IT Cell; technical officers and other departmental officials were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Saurabh Bhagat said the new facility would strengthen the department’s capacity to drive innovation, accelerate e-Governance initiatives and improve the efficiency of technology-enabled public service delivery. He noted that the expanded office space would provide a collaborative work environment for officials and technical teams, facilitating effective project implementation and supporting future expansion and capacity-building efforts. A key feature of the facility will be the establishment of a Security Operations Centre (SOC) and Network Operations Centre (NOC), which will function as a centralised command and monitoring hub for safeguarding the Government’s digital infrastructure. The centre will monitor networks, servers, applications and cybersecurity events, enable timely detection and response to security incidents, support coordinated incident management and ensure uninterrupted delivery of critical digital services. The new premises will also include a state-of-the-art Video Conferencing (VC) Room equipped with modern communication facilities. The facility will be made available to various government departments, subject to prior approval, for virtual meetings, review sessions, training programmes and inter-departmental coordination. Officials said the enhanced infrastructure will significantly improve the operational capacity of the Information Technology Department while reinforcing the Government’s digital governance framework and supporting the expansion of mission-critical technology platforms.
