Dream Big, Aim High: LG Manoj Sinha Calls Youth the Architects of a Developed J&K
Jammu, January 18, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Sunday urged the youth to dream big, aim high and pursue their goals with courage, commitment and unwavering resolve, describing them as the driving force behind social transformation and national progress.
Addressing the 7th Annual Day celebration of the Guidance & Career Counselling Cell for Youth Development (GCC) at Gurha Slathia in Samba district, the Lieutenant Governor called upon young people to actively contribute towards building a brighter Jammu and Kashmir and realising the vision of Viksit Bharat.
“Your future is waiting for you. Take a pledge to build a stronger J&K with dedication and determination. History remembers those who challenged limits, overcame fear and turned the impossible into reality,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor observed that history has shown that transformative change is driven not by extraordinary circumstances, but by extraordinary thinking. He emphasised that youth are not merely the hope of tomorrow but the greatest strength of today, and must dare to dream big for the Union Territory and the nation.
He noted that consistent efforts and belief in one’s own potential eventually lead to lasting transformation, adding that those who trust themselves are the ones who go on to create history.
Highlighting the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in societal progress, the Lieutenant Governor encouraged the youth to adopt new ideas to address challenges and create self-employment opportunities, describing entrepreneurship as a key driver of economic empowerment.
Reiterating the commitment of the Government of India and the UT Administration towards the rehabilitation of families affected by recent natural calamities, he said a comprehensive allocation of Rs 1,437 crore has been approved for reconstruction of damaged public infrastructure and implementation of disaster mitigation measures across affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
He informed that damaged railway bridges will be restored within three months, while flood-affected stretches of national highways are expected to be repaired within the next four months.
Responding to a demand raised by the Member of Legislative Assembly, Samba, regarding the construction of a railway over-bridge, the Lieutenant Governor assured that the matter would be taken up with railway authorities for early resolution. He also suggested the development of a pond in the area with volunteer support from youth and social organisations.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed appreciation for the selfless service of Radha Soami Satsang Beas and the High-Range Rural Development Society (HRDS) India, and commended the Guidance & Career Counselling Cell for Youth Development for its sustained efforts towards youth empowerment.
During the visit, he also reviewed the progress of the auditorium construction and upgradation works at the Government Higher Secondary School, Gurha Slathia, and directed officials to ensure the provision of adequate sanitation and sports facilities.
The event was attended by Shri Surjit Singh Slathia, Member of Legislative Assembly, Samba; Shri Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Shri Shakti Pathak, Director, Anti-Corruption Bureau; Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range; Ms Ayushi Sudan, Deputy Commissioner, Samba; senior officials, members of GCC, and a large number of youth. Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (Retd.) and several prominent personalities from diverse fields were also present.
