Srinagar:ANB: As part of its sustained crackdown on drug trafficking, Srinagar Police achieved a major success by arresting a notorious drug peddler and recovering a substantial quantity of heroin during routine checking in the city.
A police team from Police Station Khanyar apprehended a suspicious individual during naka checking at Munwarabad near the Sewage Treatment Plant. Upon search, two packets of heroin weighing approximately 1.6 kilograms were recovered from his possession.
The accused was identified as Fayaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hussain Dar, a resident of Ichgam, Budgam. Accordingly, FIR No. 04/2026 under Sections 8 and 21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Khanyar. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to trace the source and the wider network involved in narcotics trafficking.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing credible information related to drug abuse and illegal narcotics trade, to help curb this serious social menace. ANB
