The investigation was initiated following a complaint alleging that the complainant was deceived through a fraudulent phone call claiming that he had won a prize of Rs. 2.35 crore along with a car from M/s Chevrolet Motors Promotion Limited, UK. To claim the purported prize, the complainant was instructed to communicate via the email ID [email protected] and was subsequently directed to deposit money towards customs duty into a bank account maintained in the name of Jitu Raj Johari at SBI Branch, Sarai Khawja.
After the initial deposit, the complainant received further emails directing him to open an account with the Royal Bank of Scotland and to deposit additional funds as Charges of Transfer (COT) through an NSG agency. Acting on these instructions, the complainant arranged and deposited the required amounts from various sources. Despite repeated assurances, no prize money was ever credited to his account. The fraudsters continued to mislead the complainant through calls and emails, including correspondence from an individual identifying himself as “Frank Ban” using the email ID [email protected].
The investigation conclusively established the involvement of Jitu Raj Johari, son of Anand Kumar Johari, resident of Ashoka Enclave, Sector-37, Faridabad (Haryana), and Suresh Thakur, son of Ramesh Thakur, resident of Muzaffarabad and presently residing at JJ Colony, Shakurpur, Delhi. The accused persons were found to have acted in connivance and fraudulently cheated the complainant of lakhs of rupees.
Based on substantial oral, documentary, and corroborative evidence collected during the investigation, offences under the relevant provisions of law were proved against the accused. Accordingly, the chargesheet has been presented before the competent court for judicial adjudication. ANB
