Srinagar, Dec 23:
The Health and Medical Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has formally referred 480 posts of Medical Officers to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) for direct recruitment, according to an official communication issued on Tuesday.
An official letter from the Civil Secretariat stated that the referral has been made under the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Family Welfare (Gazetted) Service Rules, notified vide SRO 325 of 2013. The requisition for filling up the posts has been forwarded to JKPSC to initiate the recruitment process.
As per the breakup, 192 posts have been earmarked for Open Merit, 38 for Scheduled Caste, 48 each for Scheduled Tribe–I, Scheduled Tribe–II and Backward Area categories, 39 for Other Backward Classes, 48 for Economically Weaker Sections, and 19 for the ALC/IB category.
The department has also requested JKPSC to incorporate specific conditions in the forthcoming advertisement to preclude any future legal issues. Under these conditions, candidates selected as Medical Officers will not be allowed to continue postgraduate courses or tenure-based positions such as Senior Residency, Registrarship or Demonstratorship after selection. However, a one-time option will be provided to candidates to either join as Medical Officers or continue with their existing postgraduate or tenure engagement.
The communication further states that selected Medical Officers, upon appointment, will be mandatorily posted in peripheral and far-flung areas of the Union Territory to ensure equitable healthcare delivery.
The letter has been addressed to the Secretary, JKPSC, seeking acknowledgment and necessary action.
