Kupwara, October 15: In a significant outreach, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday visited Dardpora in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and met the families of civilians who lost their lives to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. Later, the LG also addressed the next of kin of terror victims at Government Degree College Kupwara, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to justice, rehabilitation, and dignity for all affected families.
“Justice, respect and dignity to the family members of civilian martyrs killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists is my top priority,” the Lieutenant Governor said, assuring the families that their “decades-long trauma, torment and suffering is over.” He pledged full administrative and institutional support to help them rebuild their lives.
Sinha observed that the families of civilian martyrs had endured immense pain, loss, and deprivation over the past three decades. “They not only lost their loved ones but also faced systemic barriers that denied them their rights and access to resources. All those obstacles have now been removed. We are ensuring justice and dignity for every family affected by terrorism,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor paid homage to the civilians who were mercilessly killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists, while several bereaved families narrated their personal stories of struggle and resilience.
“It is difficult to articulate the pain and suffering of terror victim families due to their profound emotional and psychological trauma,” Sinha said, emphasizing that the administration will handle each case “with utmost sensitivity and responsibility.”
Highlighting government initiatives, the LG revealed that nearly 250 terror victim families have so far been provided with government jobs. “This mission will continue until justice is delivered to every affected family. This marks the beginning of a new era of justice in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
During the event, Sinha also referred to a Memorandum of Understanding recently signed between the High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India) and the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir. Under this agreement, houses will be constructed for terror victim families who have their own land but lost their homes to terrorist violence.
The Lieutenant Governor took a strong stand against Pakistan and its local collaborators, stating that “the culprit Pakistani terrorists and their support system in the Valley ran a false narrative for three decades to absolve the terror state of its sins.”
“Pakistan, the breeding ground of terrorism, stands exposed now,” Sinha said. “Those involved in spreading fake propaganda on behalf of terrorists will be brought to justice.”
The event was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, DIG North Kashmir Range Maqsood-Ul-Zaman, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, SSP Kupwara Syed Al-Tahir Gilani, Chairman of Save Youth Save Future Foundation Wajahat Farooq Bhat, senior officials, and numerous family members of terror victims.
