Srinagar, October 15: In one of the biggest anti-narcotics operations in recent months, Srinagar Police have recovered over 79 kilograms of banned substances — including Ganja, Charas, and Clonazepam tablets — during a series of coordinated raids across multiple city locations.
According to officials, six individuals have been taken into custody and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The operation was launched after police received credible intelligence regarding the storage and movement of illegal drugs in the district.
A senior police officer said the crackdown is part of a larger campaign to dismantle the drug trade network operating in and around Srinagar. “We are determined to eliminate the drug menace from the city. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source and identify those linked with the wider supply chain,” the officer stated.
Authorities have urged citizens to stay alert and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious or drug-related activities in their neighbourhoods. “Public participation is vital to combat this social threat,” police said in a statement. ANB
