Jammu, December 3, 2025: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday reaffirmed the UT administration’s commitment to creating an inclusive and barrier-free Jammu & Kashmir while attending the International Day of Persons with Disabilities event at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar.
“I salute the resilience, determination and potential of Divyangjans. We are committed to building a system that aligns with their dreams and aspirations, eliminating all challenges and barriers,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The programme was organised by the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Jammu under the theme “Celebrating Ability, Preserving Culture,” in line with the global theme “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”
Calling upon officials and social organisations to pledge protection and promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities, LG Sinha said that inclusion must form the foundation of equitable development. “We must work with sensitivity, awareness and a shared resolve to ensure their dignity and meaningful participation, and guarantee access to education, skills and livelihoods,” he noted.
Highlighting key initiatives aimed at socio-economic empowerment of Divyangjans, the LG said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, significant efforts have been made to ensure equal rights, equal opportunities and a better quality of life for persons with disabilities.
“Together, we must build a J&K where accessibility is the norm, where every Divyangjan has access to all facilities, equal employment opportunities and the advanced technical tools required to live a life of dignity,” he added.
The LG also commended CRC Jammu for its dedicated work in rehabilitation and empowerment. Since 2024, the centre has conducted over 35,000 clinical assessments and distributed assistive devices worth more than ₹2 crore, benefiting a large number of individuals.
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor distributed assistive devices and kits among beneficiaries and inspected stalls set up by various social service organisations.
Among those present were MLA Bahu Shri Vikram Randhawa; Director Colleges Prof. (Dr.) Sheikh Ajaz Bashir; CRC Jammu Director Dr. Rohnika Sharma; senior officials, heads of educational institutions, prominent citizens, members of social organisations, students and a large gathering of people.
