Republic Day: LG Manoj Sinha Calls for Unity, Democratic Values and Accelerated Development in J&K

On the eve of the 77th Republic Day, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended heartfelt greetings to the people of the Union Territory and reiterated the nation’s commitment to democratic ideals, national security, and inclusive development.
In his Republic Day message, the Lieutenant Governor paid rich tribute to the architects of the Indian Constitution, acknowledging their wisdom, courage and sacrifices that secured freedom for the nation and laid down a constitutional framework based on justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. He said these timeless values continue to guide India’s democratic and socialist ethos.
The Lieutenant Governor lauded the contribution of workers, farmers, doctors, engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs, teachers, students, youth, women, businesspersons, artists, writers, industry leaders and civil society volunteers, stating that their dedication and hard work remain central to strengthening democracy and driving holistic progress across Jammu and Kashmir.
He also expressed deep appreciation for the armed forces, paramilitary forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, commending their vigilance, courage and sacrifices in ensuring peace, security and harmony. Referring to Operation Sindoor, launched in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Lieutenant Governor said the operation marked a defining moment in India’s national security doctrine. He underlined that India had clearly conveyed that any terrorist attack on its soil would be treated as an act of war, calling Operation Sindoor a strong assertion of India’s strategic resolve.
The Lieutenant Governor further praised the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF for their exemplary professionalism and bravery during Operation Mahadev, through which three Pakistani terrorists involved in the attack were neutralised. He said the operation delivered justice and upheld the dignity of the nation’s mothers and sisters.
Appreciating the Jammu and Kashmir Police for dismantling a nationwide terror network in October–November last year and averting multiple attacks, the Lieutenant Governor described the force as the true heroes of the nation and expressed pride in their service.
Looking ahead, the Lieutenant Governor called for renewed collective determination to steer Jammu and Kashmir towards higher levels of development and prosperity. He emphasised the need to consolidate existing strengths, accelerate economic growth and build robust, future-ready infrastructure across the Union Territory. Stressing innovation and entrepreneurship, he urged higher education institutions to prepare for a future driven by technology, research and dynamic enterprise.
He also highlighted the importance of positioning Jammu and Kashmir as a leader in the knowledge-based economy and information technology, while ensuring equitable access to quality education, healthcare and opportunities, particularly for youth and women.
Concluding his message, the Lieutenant Governor urged citizens to shoulder their responsibilities with sincerity and selflessness, reaffirming collective commitment to building a strong, prosperous and developed India.
