LG Kavinder Gupta Chairs Security Review in Ladakh Urges Vigilance, Unity & Peace; Critically Injured Patient Airlifted to Delhi

Leh, September 25: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, on Thursday chaired a high-level security review meeting to take stock of the prevailing situation across the Union Territory.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal, DGP Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, and senior officers of the Army and ITBP.

Emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance and seamless inter-agency coordination, the Lt Governor directed officials to strengthen intelligence networks, enhance preparedness, and ensure close cooperation between civil and security agencies for swift response to emerging challenges.

“Ladakh has always been known for its peace, harmony, and brotherhood. Certain anti-social elements are trying to disturb this atmosphere. I urge people not to fall prey to such attempts—we must maintain peace at all costs,” Shri Gupta said.

Highlighting Ladakh’s development since becoming a Union Territory, he added, “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Ladakh has witnessed tremendous progress. No disruptive force will be allowed to derail this journey of peace and prosperity.”

On the recent incident that left several injured, the Lt Governor said the administration is ensuring the best possible medical care. On September 24, a total of 90 patients were admitted to SNM Hospital, Leh. Of them, three were brought dead and one was declared dead on arrival. Seven were critically injured, 20 suffered major trauma, and 61 had minor injuries.

Fifty patients were discharged the same day, while seven underwent major surgeries and 45 blood transfusions were conducted. On September 25, one critically injured patient was airlifted to New Delhi on an IAF aircraft for advanced treatment. Eighteen patients remain admitted, while 11 more were discharged today. The bodies of the four deceased have been handed over to their families after legal formalities.

The Lt Governor also directed Deputy Commissioner Leh to visit SNM Hospital to oversee treatment facilities and extend all possible support to the injured and their families.

Reiterating his appeal, Shri Gupta said, “Peace and harmony are the foundation of Ladakh’s identity. Together, we must safeguard this legacy and ensure the safety and security of every citizen.”
