Srinagar, September 24: The Press Club of Kashmir on Wednesday convened a condolence meeting to mourn the untimely death of the young daughter of veteran journalist Khurshid Ahmad Wani, currently serving with ETV Bharat in Hyderabad.
The meeting, attended by members of the executive body, began with a two-minute silence to pray for the departed soul and to extend solidarity with the bereaved family.
According to reports, Wani’s daughter lost her life in a hit-and-run accident in Hyderabad’s Hayat Nagar area on Monday while on her way to college. Though passers-by rushed her to hospital, she succumbed to her injuries despite medical efforts.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the journalistic fraternity in Kashmir, with colleagues expressing their heartfelt sympathies. Her mortal remains were scheduled to be flown to Srinagar for burial at her ancestral village in Devar, Tral (Pulwama district).
Expressing grief, the Press Club said it stood with Khurshid Ahmad Wani in this hour of immense pain and prayed: “May Allah grant the departed soul the highest place in Jannat and give the family courage to bear this irreparable loss.”
