During the interaction, the Lieutenant Governor underlined the rapid pace of infrastructure modernisation witnessed across the Union Territory in recent years. He described the establishment of rail connectivity between Kashmir and Kanyakumari as a historic milestone in Jammu and Kashmir’s development journey. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the expansion of railway infrastructure is providing a major impetus to tourism, horticulture, industry and other sectors of the economy in Jammu and Kashmir,” Sinha said. He added that the Union Territory was moving ahead with renewed confidence towards peace, development and prosperity. The Lieutenant Governor also emphasised the strategic importance of strengthening connectivity, particularly in border areas, saying that improved infrastructure was crucial not only for promoting local economic activity but also for enhancing national security. The visiting delegation, accompanied by Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek and senior railway officials, is on a four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to study the region’s railway network and infrastructure.
